ODSONNE Edouard, who is in talks with Celtic about an improved deal, has spoken of the importance of the Parkhead club completing 10-In-A-Row next season and admitted he would like to score against Rangers again.

French striker Edouard, who scored 28 goals in all competitions during the 2019/20 campaign, was named the Dafabet Celtic Player of the Year yesterday.

The £9m player, who is under contract until 2022, has atracted interest from clubs across Europe, but he indicated he could be prepared to stay in Glasgow and help Neil Lennon's men make history next term.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Edouard said: “Every season we want to win the title. This year is Nine-In-A-Row, and next year I hope it is 10-In-A-Row. This will be historic for the club.

“It’s very important for the club, for the fans, for the team, for all of the staff. We now need to go back to work for next season, and I hope that we can win this title for 10-In-A-Row.”

Edouard, who is set to return to training with his Celtic team mates next week, admitted that he has tried to keep himself fit during the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “I’ve worked hard throughout lockdown. Working alone is not easy, but I’ve kept my fitness up and I look forward to getting back to training."

The 22-year-old revealed that scoring in the first Premiership match against Rangers at Ibrox last year was his highlight of the season - and confessed he is determined to do so again in future.

“The goal at Ibrox back in September is one of my best goals of the season, scored in an important game," he said. "I’m happy about that, and now I want go back to working hard, to try and score again against Rangers.”
