THE SPFL are close to agreeing a financial compensation package with BT Sport for the early curtailment of the 2019/20 campaign, according to reports.
The BBC say that the two parties are on the cusp of an agreement that would see Scottish football's governing body pay the broadcaster £2.3 million for the matches they were unable to show due to the decision to bring the season to a close.
It comes after the SPFL agreed a £1.5m compensation package with Sky Sports earlier this month for the same reason, to be paid over a five-year period.
According to the BBC, the payments to BT Sport will be made in installments after weeks of negotiations between the two parties.
Sky's £160m broadcast deal kicks in at the start of the new campaign, with an agreement to show 54 games each season for the next five years.
