Neil Lennon refused to rule out a swoop for Steven Fletcher as he targets more fire power ahead of the new season.

Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala are Celtic's top striking options but with Griffiths struggling for fitness and Klimala, as yet untested, Fletcher could be an option having recently left Sheffield Wednesday on the expiration of his contract.

The former Hibs striker departed Scottish football back in 2009 for Burnley before going on to sign for Sunderland, Wolves and Marseille. He scored 13 times for Wednesday last season.

Fletcher has been linked with a move to the Hoops in the past but now at 33-years-old could potentially finally make the move. And speaking after his side's Ross County friendly win yesterday, Lennon was coy on the possibility. Asked about Fletcher, he responded: "He's a long list of players that I am sure a lot of clubs are looking at."

Celts have been linked with Ivan Toney of Peterborough and Ajeti of West Ham in recent weeks. But whatever happens, Lennon wants reinforcements. "There is a lot of speculation but nothing confirmed as yet," he said. "I am happy with the squad but we can improve it and that's what we are looking to do.

"I won't make any predictions because it's a difficult environment as we aren't sure how the pandemic will impact on the market. But we do want to bring players in and I don't think we are a million miles away."
