The Glasgow Clan have announced the triple signing of Quinn O’Brien, Jacob Sweeney and Medric Mercier from the University of Ottawa.

The Clan made the announcement at their Drive-in Movie event at Braehead today.

25-year-old forward Quinn O’Brien joins the Clan after four seasons with Ottawa, where he went on to captain the team during the 2019/20 season.

Defenceman Jacob Sweeney, also 25-years-old, will also be travelling to Scotland after four seasons as an alternative captain with the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Their 23-year-old Ottawa teammate, defenceman Mercier, will also come to Glasgow after three seasons in USports.

Clan Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers commented: “I’d like to welcome Quinn, Jacob and Medric to the Glasgow Clan.

“It was important that we started to create a new core group of players and when the opportunity came around to sign all three from Ottawa, it made total sense.

“We’ve made the decision to focus on a younger team this season and recruiting ambitious, hungry, exciting players from NCAA and USports will very much play a part in that.

“Quinn, Jacob and Medric come highly recommended to us from our USports contacts and all opted for the Clan despite a lot of interest from other EIHL clubs and European teams.
