RYAN JACK insists Steven Gerrard was right to demand better from Rangers despite seeing his side move top of the table on Wednesday night.

The Light Blues maintained their perfect start to the Premiership campaign with a 3-0 win over St Johnstone as Borna Barisic, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo found the target.

Boss Gerrard wasn’t completely satisfied with the showing from his side, though, and was quick to stress he will continue pushing in search for further improvement.

And midfielder Jack has no qualms with Gerrard’s high demands and standards as attentions turn to the trip to Livingston this weekend.

He said: "Yeah I think we've been building good momentum. The pre-season games over in France with the quality we were playing against helped us with the fitness side of it.

"Coming back domestically, we're going in with the mentality that we want to win and we've started off well.

“The gaffer is drilling it in every day. The gaffer is pushing us everyday and wanting more every day.

"Even on the back of the second half on Wednesday night he was in the changing room, pushing us, wanting more, wanting better performances. We're pleased with the start we've made but there's a long way to go.

"That (criticism) just what happens when you're at a big club. The gaffer has said that to us from day one of pre-season, he's going to be on us every day.

"There's no room to take our foot of it. We're only a good team when we're at it and at it every day.

"He'll remind us of that again and I'm sure if he does, we'll take it into Sunday.”
