BORNA BARISIC insists he won't pay attention to any transfer talk this summer as he fixes his full focus on Rangers' Premiership title bid.
The Croatian has been linked with the likes of Roma and Napoli in recent months and Leeds United were the latest side to be credited with an interest in his services earlier his week.
Boss Steven Gerrard has been firm in his stance that he wants to retain the Croatian internationalist and it would take a significant offer for the Light Blues board to even consider selling one of their prized assets this summer.
Barisic scored one and set up one in the win over St Johnstone on Wednesday night as he continued his fine start to the campaign for Gerrard's side.
And that will remain all that he is focused on as the Gers bid to build on their early season momentum away to Livingston.
"I was expecting this question," Barisic said when asked about his future. "I don’t want to talk about transfers or things like that. The most important thing is where I am now and that is Rangers.
"We know how big this season is for us. I don’t want to think about transfers because when you think about things like that and read about that, it is normal that you then lose your focus.
"Personally as a player and a club, we have started very well, I have started well and that is the most important thing."
Rangers face Livingston today aiming for a fourth successive win that would move them eight points clear of Celtic.
Barisic has been encouraged by their start to the Premiership campaign and said: "All the team knows what we are trying to do this year, like what we were trying to do last year.
"There is not much difference about our will to do that. We are two years better, we know each other much better and we have improved in pre-season.
"All this, when you put it together, you definitely see that we are playing very well and have started the season very good."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
