RANGERS striker Cedric Itten has been ruled out of Switzerland's clashes with Ukraine and Germany after suffering a calf injury.

The 23-year-old missed the Premiership win over Hamilton on Saturday and will now not join up for national service this week.

Itten has yet to score for Rangers following his move from St Gallen and boss Steven Gerrard is keen to see him back in action soon.

Gerrard said: "Cedric has a calf injury and should have had a scan by now.

"We are waiting on the reports but the doctor's first look at it says a couple of weeks.

"He is out of the international games and it's a shame for him.

"His performance against Kilmarnock showed real good signs and I wanted to start him again.

"Unfortunately that was taken away from me but hopefully he will be ready for Dundee United."
