JAMES TAVERNIER was delighted to reach a Rangers landmark as he netted his 50th goal for the club in the Europa League win over Willem II.
The right-back has been in fine scoring form this term and he took his tally to four goals from five games with a clinical penalty midway through the first half on Thursday night.
Steven Gerrard's side would go on to record an impressive 4-0 win after Tavernier had opened the scoring and the skipper was proud of his achievement.
"It means I get to take the top home and Jimmy has to do me another top!," he said when asked what the accolade meant to him. "We had a little joke inside after the game.
"It is incredible for myself to get to 50 goals as a right-back. I wouldn't be here if not for this team and the gaffer put faith in me to put me on the pens.
"Thankfully it went in the back of the net and I was delighted about that.
"Like I always say, if I can help the boys in any way possible in a game in terms of assists and goals then I will do that.
"But tonight I am more pleased that we got a clean sheet and got through to the next round."
