ST JOHNSTONE PLAYER RATINGS
ZANDER CLARK 6
Nothing he could do about the goals. Other than that, not tested.
SCOTT TANSER 7
Had a man marking job on Jeremie Frimpong. Great performance.
JASON KERR 7
Assured display at the back and will be disappointed to lose his clean sheet.
JAMIE McCART 6
Poor distribution from the centre back, but he defended well throughout.
LIAM GORDON 6
Another who performed well at the back, but ultimately not good enough to gain any points.
DANNY McNAMARA 6
Defended well and got forward as much as he could.
MURRAY DAVIDSON 7
Typical Murray Davidson performance in the middle of the park. A great battler.
ALI McCANN 6
Brought loads of energy to the Saints midfield and was composed on the ball.
CRAIG CONWAY 5
Got forward well down the right flank but missed a huge opportunity at the start of the second half.
DAVID WOTHERSPOON 8
Confident and tricky on the ball. Caused Elhamed problems down the left flank.
STEVIE MAY 6
Led the line well for Saints. Kept Kris Ajer and Shane Duffy busy and did fair bit of tracking.
SUBSTITUTES
MICHAEL O’HALLORAN (for Wotherspoon, 66) 3
Never got involved after coming off the bench.
CALLUM HENDRY (for Kerr, 91) 2
On too late to make an impact.
CELTIC PLAYER RATINGS
VASILIS BARKAS 6
Not really tested in the Hoops goal but collected several crosses well.
GREG TAYLOR 5
Got forward on numerous occasions, but his final ball was poor.
SHANE DUFFY 6
Assured performance at the back and was a nuisance in the Saints penalty area at set pieces.
DAVID TURNBULL 5
Really struggled to get on the ball in the middle of the park. Will have better games for the Hoops.
OLIVIER NTCHAM 4
Very passive in midfield. Always looked sideways instead of forward.
MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI 5
Couple of penetrative runs forward, but wasn’t his usual attacking threat.
JEREMIE FRIMPONG 5
Was kept quiet due to a top man marking job by Scott Tanser.
KRISTOFFER AJER 6
Didn’t put a foot wrong, but could have stepped forward to put Celtic on the attack more.
CALLUM McGREGOR 6
Sprayed the ball about well, but found it difficult to get forward as much as he would have liked.
HATEM ELHAMED 5
Struggled in his defensive role. But great cross for Griffiths' goal.
ODSONNE EDOUARD 4
Quiet afternoon for the Frenchman. Never had a sniff at goal and struggled to link the play in the final third.
SUBSTITUTES
PATRYK KLIMALA (for Edouard, 58) 5
Great battling for his goal. Top notch finish too.
RYAN CHRISTIE (for Turnbull, 58) 4
Tried his best to make things work in the final third.
LEIGH GRIFFITHS (for Elyounoussi, 75) 5
Back with a bang. Great header for his first of the season.
TOM ROGIC (for Ntcham, 75) 3
Struggled to make an impact after being introduced from the bench.
SCOTT BROWN (for Taylor, 81) 3
Got his team fired up for a win when brought on in the dying stages.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
