Celtic rejected a bid from an unnamed German side for Odsonne Edouard before the end of this summer's transfer window, according to reports.

The French striker has been on the radar of a number of clubs, including top tier sides in the English Premier League like Arsenal in recent months. It was not the Gunners, however, who made an official move for the Hoops attacker.

The Athletic report that a club in Germany were the only side to lodge a bid for Edouard, but it was immediately booted into touch by Celts as it came nowhere close to their valuation of the player, who cost them £9million from PSG.

Aston Villa and Brighton are both keen admirers of Edouard and are believed to still be keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old. They are also reported to have enquired about his price tag but were rebuffed by Celts who, again, told how they were unwilling to sell this season as they hunt 10 in a row.

Edouard's fitness levels have been called into question this week as Celtic prepare to host AC Milan in the Europa League. He missed the weekend's 2-0 defeat to Rangers through a Covid-19 diagnosis and is in a race against time to be ready for Thursday evening.
