ALLAN MCGREGOR admits it would be an 'unbelievable achievement' for him to write his name in the Ibrox history books this term.
The keeper is just four games short of Barry Ferguson's record number of European appearances for Rangers and he could set a new benchmark during this Europa League campaign.
McGregor will line up against Standard Liege on Thursday night as Steven Gerrard's side look to continue their momentum on the back of a commanding Old Firm win.
And the 38-year-old is focused on the task in hand as Rangers bid to get off to a winning start in Group D this term.
McGregor told RangersTV: "If it happens it will be a great achievement for me personally but I don't like looking to far ahead so we will see what happens. To answer your question it would be an unbelievable achievement for myself.
"An hour or two after [the Celtic game] then the focus is on recovery then the next game. That's always the same.
"The games come thick and fast as there is two or three a week here. It's been like that for the last two years so we are used to it.
“You only class momentum with the more you win which is consistency really.
“I don’t know how many games you need to win in a row to say you have momentum. For me, consistency is this most important thing.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
