Kemar Roofe broke a Europa League record this evening - scoring the longest range strike in history.
The Englishman netted an absolute stunner from inside his own half in the dying minutes of Gers’ 2-0 win over Standard Liege to seal the points.
But it wasn’t just the three points he secured, as Opta Joe confirmed.
The statistics site revealed that Roofe’s wonder goal was from a whopping 54.6 yards - the furthest ever in the Europa League.
Ex-Anderlecht hitman Roofe sprang from the bench for Steven Gerrard’s men after some time on the sidelines with injury.
His teammates had already opened the scoring through a James Tavernier penalty when he struck.
The win puts Rangers at joint top of their Group D as rivals Benfica won 4-2 away to Lech Poznan in the other fixture.
Roofe and teammate Alfredo Morelos were then spotted confronting Standard Liege coaching staff as the game threatened to boil over at full-time.
It is not yet known what started the melee.
