Former Aberdeen manager Ebbe Skovdahl has died, aged 75.

The Danish former footballer and manager passed away after a period of illness earlier today.

Skovdahl managed the Dons between 1999 and 2002. He guided them to a fourth-placed finish back in 2001/02 while they were still competing in the former Scottish Premier League.

Aberdeen confirmed the news earlier today via social media. The club posted: "Everyone at Pittodrie is saddened to hear of the passing of our former manager Ebbe Skovdahl at the age of 75.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Skovdahl won the Danish Championship as manager of Brondby four times as well as the Danish Cup three times.

He also counted Benfica among his former clubs where he managed them during the 1987/88 season.
