STEVEN GERRARD is confident Connor Goldson can maintain his levels without a break as the defender continues to perform for Rangers.
The Englishman made his 17th appearance of the campaign on Thursday night as Gerrard's side beat Lech Poznan in the Europa League and he will line up once again when the Gers face Kilmarnock this weekend.
Gerrard has alternated between Filip Helander and Leon Balogun as Goldson's defensive partner throughout the season but sees no reason to rest his tried and trusted stopper at present.
Gerrard said: "No-one is undroppable. I think that is important for you to know.
"But I think Connor has proved over the time that we have been together that he is very robust, that he churn out games and his body is used to that now.
"I think Connor is someone, with the heart issue he had earlier in his career, that is desperate to make up for lost time in terms of playing.
"He doesn’t like to be offloaded or rested, but I am certainly more confident that if I wanted to do that now that we have the players that could cope.
"I am really happy with Connor, he is in a fantastic place physically and mentally at the moment.
"He is becoming a leader, his communication is better. I don’t see any reason, right now, to drop him or rest him or offload him because he is in such a good place."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
