Celtic are considering a long-term switch for Diego Laxalt, according to a report.

The Uruguayan defender has been a standout for the Hoops since his loan from AC Milan. Even during trying times for the Scottish champions, the left-back has impressed since his debut against Rangers.

Laxalt, 27, netted his first goal for the club last weekend in a 2-2 draw with Hibs and has only been on the winning side twice in eight games since joining.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sports Italy claims Celtic have been convinced with his qualities and they could be ready to open discussions with his parent club with a view to potentially signing him up permanently.

It comes as Milan's interest in Kris Ajer has not diminished after chasing the Norwegian this summer.

A deal could still potentially be on the cards with that move, too, however Herald and Times Sport understands Milan previously had an official bid for the centre-half booted into touch by Celtic.
