Celtic fans have reacted to Neil Lennon's starting XI choices as they prepare to face AC Milan this evening in a Europa League dead rubber.

The Hoops are already out of the tournament this season following two successive 4-1 defeats to Sparta Prague and a loss in their last clash at home to Milan. That provided Lennon with the opportunity to potentially stick in some fringe players to earn game time and get minutes into their legs.

But some fans were left scratching their heads at the decision to play Celtic's best possible XI, including the likes of Scott Brown and Ryan Christie, who has played virtually non-stop for the club this season as well as all of Scotland's international fixtures.

One fan asked: "Whereโ€™s the rotation? Why is brown playing in a dead rubber? Amateurs!" Another commented: "Karamoko isnโ€™t even on the bench, thought this was a chance to give the young players a bit of game time".

One wrote: "Why are we even playing a full team, we're already out, play the reserves and concentrate on the league, that's all that matter now!" A fourth wrote: "Unbelievable, so no fringe players getting a run out, no players in need of game time getting it. We're being trolled."

Other fans were more accepting of the delicate situation Lennon finds himself in, with his future as manager hanging in the balance. One fan wrote: "Interesting the criticism of a strong team. I bet there'd be the same complaints with a weak team. A good result against a class team builds positivity. An absolute gubbing with a weak team will have more calls for his head. He can't win. Supporters eh?"

Another added: "GET BEHIND THE TEAM FFS!!" A third wrote: "Sending the reserves out would've been like lambs to the slaughter."
