CELTIC PLAYER RATINGS
CONOR HAZARD 6
The young Northern Irishman kept Vasilis Barkas on the bench. Saved well from Kirk Broadfoot at 2-0.
GREG TAYLOR 7
Came in for Diego Laxalt at left back against his old club. Overlapped to good effect.
SHANE DUFFY 7
Much, much better. Made it 2-0 after getting on the end of a David Turnbull corner and heading powerfully home.
CHRISTOPHER JULLIEN 7
Forced a fine save from Danny Rogers in the ninth minute. Soldiered on after being fouled by Nicke Kabamba.
KRIS AJER 7
Could right back be the Norwegian’s best position? He can certainly get up the pitch. Did superbly to tee up Turnbull before half-time.
ISMAILA SORO 6
Preferred to club captain Scott Brown in central midfield after his Lille display. Justified his selection.
CALLUM MCGREGOR 7
Excellent. Odsonne Edouard should have done better after his skipper burrowed into the Kilmarnock area and crossed to him in the second-half.
MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI 7
Worked hard from start to finish. Did brilliantly to cut inside and unleash the low shot that put his side ahead.
DAVID TURNBULL 7
Composed on the ball, he set up Jullien and Odsonne Edouard with scoring chances and went close himself in the first-half. Supplied Duffy for the second with a corner.
JEREMIE FRIMPONG 5
The winger was denied a goal by Rogers after making a powerful run upfield early in the second-half.
ODSONNE EDOUARD 4
Poor. Should have buried a Turnbull cut back in the first-half, headed a McGregor cross wide in the second.
Replacements
RYAN CHRISTIE (for Frimpong, 69) 3
Volleyed just wide.
PATRYK KLIMALA (for Edouard, 69) 3
Worked hard.
TOM ROGIC (for Turnbull, 81) 2
Saw out the win.
DIEGO LAXALT (for Taylor, 81) 2
Had little to do.
MIKEY JOHNSTON (for Elyounoussi, 86) 3
Returned to action after almost 11 months out. Looked sharp.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
