STEVEN GERRARD insists none of his key players will be leaving Rangers during the January transfer window.

But the Ibrox boss admits there will come a time when he will have to lose his prized assets as a result of the Light Blues' business model.

Managing Director Stewart Robertson and John Bennett, the deputy chairman, addressed the important issue of player trading during the virtual AGM that was held on Tuesday afternoon.

Both Robertson and Bennett spoke of transfer business being the fourth 'pillar' for Rangers, alongside season ticket income, commercial revenue and money raised from on-field success such as the Europa League.

Figures released last month revealed that Rangers made a £15.9million loss for the financial year but the books didn't include cash from high-profile player sales as Gerrard bolstered his squad once again.

Rangers were able to reject significant offers for Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos in the summer as Leeds United and Lille made respective moves to lure the pair away from Ibrox.

And Gerrard won't look to cash in over the coming weeks as he looks to deliver the Premiership title this term.

Gerrard said: "None of our big players will be going anywhere in January. I’m well aware of the club’s situation and what we need to do moving forward.

"Of course I totally understand that at some point we will have to trade someone. I’m not naive enough to think that we won’t have to do that.

"But it’s extremely important that we keep our best players certainly in the next window and that they are here for the duration of the season. I think the board are aware of that and want that as well.

"So we are certainly on the same page. Moving forward, we are at a club where we need to keep active in terms of recruitment and bringing people in. But that also means that, at the right time, the right player might have to move in a different direction. We are well aware of that."
