Craig Gordon 6
Could do little about the Celtic goals. Did everything else asked of him. Booked for angry reaction to Odsonne Edouard’s penalty.
Michael Smith 7
His usual consistent self. Rarely put a foot wrong.
Craig Halkett 6
Gifted Edouard a goal in the first half but was bailed out by Gordon. Grew into the game.
Christophe Berra 6
Mostly solid but inexplicable handball for Celtic’s second.
Stephen Kingsley 6
Struggled to deal with the link-up play between Kris Ajer and Ryan Christie but grabbed the equaliser.
Andy Halliday 7
Started poorly but improved as the game went on. Booked for a rash challenge on Scott Brown. Got the assist for Boyce.
Andy Irving 5
Struggled to impose himself on the game. Didn’t get the time on the ball that he needs.
Steven Naismith 7
Was everywhere for Hearts. Worked hard off the ball and was always in areas to receive it.
Jamie Walker 5
Quiet afternoon for the midfielder. Booked for a silly foul on Callum McGregor.
Aidy White 5
Unfortunate to give away the first goal.
Liam Boyce 6
Worked hard and took his goal well at a crucial point in the game.
Substitutes
Josh Ginnelly (for Walker, 57’) 8
Looked lively. Played a key role in all three goals but missed a few great chances too.
Craig Wighton (for Boyce, 70’) 4
Provided pace up top as Hearts looked to counter. Missed the crucial penalty.
Olly Lee (for White, 82’) 5
Brought on to shore up midfield.
Peter Haring (for Halliday, 91’) 5
Added some steel to the Hearts defence.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
