CELTIC star Callum McGregor has been named alongside global superstars like Lionel Messi, Romelu Lukaku and Bruno Fernandes in the ranking of most minutes played in 2020.

The tireless Hoops ace, who lifted the Scottish Cup on Sunday, has racked up 4106 minutes this calendar year, adding up to 50 appearances for club and country. He has scored 11 goals in that time.

That places McGregor at number 10 in the list of outfield players across the globe, as unearthed by a new study from CIES Football Observatory in Switzerland which tallied outings from the start of the year up to December 18.

The much-maligned Harry Maguire tops the table with 4745 minutes after establishing himself as a mainstay for Manchester United and England, with his city rival Ruben Dias (4344) and Barcelona icon Messi (4293) his closest rivals.

Scotland skipper Andrew Robertson narrowly missed out on the top 10, with his 4049 minutes in 2020 sealing a spot at number 12.
