STEVEN GERRARD admits he 'had a feeling' Alfredo Morelos would end his Premiership goal drought as he gave himself a timely Old Firm confidence boost against St Mirren.

Morelos netted his first league goal since scoring against Hibernian back in September as he added to Kemar Roofe's opener in a 2-0 win over the Buddies.

The fine finish - as he collected a loose pass from Joe Shaughnessy and beat keeper Jak Alnwick - has come at just the right time for Morelos as Rangers turn their attentions to the visit of Celtic this weekend.

Gerrard said: “Alfredo will be delighted with the goal. He has been training well and I had a good feeling it was about to come.

“He’s getting into some good places. He was unlucky against St Johnstone last week and unlucky against Hibs on Saturday when he came on.

“So I had a feeling it was only a matter of time. You can’t keep him down forever. That will do his confidence the world of good."
