GRAHAM ALEXANDER was frustrated Motherwell were undone by an 'offside' goal as Rangers earned a share of the points at Fir Park.

The Steelmen were on course to become the first team to beat Steven Gerrard's side in the Premiership this term after Devante Cole gave them a first half lead.

But Cedric Itten stepped off the bench to preserve the unbeaten run that keeps Rangers 21 points clear of Celtic in the title race as they dropped points for only the third time this season.

Itten headed home a cross from Borna Barisic from close range and new Well boss Alexander reckons the effort from the Swiss shouldn't have been allowed to stand.

Alexander said: "I’m proud of the players and everyone at the club. There’s a lot of work gone on behind the scenes this week with groundstaff and office staff to try and create and environment for the players to feel together and we saw that today.

“We were excellent in the first half. We were comfortable and scored a fantastic goal and deservedly went 1-0 up. Rangers will always put you on the backfoot with their quality.

“And when you’re 1-0 up there is a tendency to try and protect and, although I didn’t see it at the time, it looks like an offside goal got them a point.

“It’s frustrating because you can only control your game and your positions so if someone is offside then you’re controlling it by holding a good line.

“It was only after the game when someone showed me the still and a bit of footage and that hurts us a little bit but it’s good the players are frustrated at taking a point who are unbeaten this season.

“The boys deserved a little bit more because of what they’ve put in not just today, but the whole week. But it’s a step forward for us and another point on our tally."
