Andy Walker has hit back at Neil Lennon after he furiously blasted the pundit in his fiery presser this week.
The Celtic manager was livid earlier this week and let loose on Walker after the latter branded the club's Dubai trip a 'jolly' and criticised the decision to head to UAE amid a global pandemic. Photos emerged on social media of Lennon and his players enjoying a beer poolside and Walker suggested they should perhaps have been working harder.
Lennon took the ex-Celt's comments as a slight on his professionalism and slaughtered him, demanding an apology. But Walker refused to back down, maintaining his opinion. Though he did point to his own time at Parkhead as a player under Billy McNeill and Tommy Burns where 'jolly' meant something different.
"Let's stick to the facts Eilidh Celtic went on an ill-fated trip to Dubai, something that they apologised for and the up-shot of that was that they dropped four points against Hibs and Livingston with a weaked squad," Walker said on Sky Sports. "All of that self-inflicted.
"I've got to say there's been a remarkable analysis of my use of the word 'jolly'. My personal experience is at Celtic, I played under Billy McNeill and Tommy Burns and we went on a midseason jolly, the purpose of it being exactly what Celtic tried to get a couple of weeks ago.
"Warm weather training, no pressure, no games, a bit of down-time, have a beer by all means. But at the bottom of it absolutely you work hard. If anyone wants to regard that as a stag do or some sort of 18-30 that is up to them. I've got to say my time at Celtic is the best time of my career, I feel incredibly privileged to play at that club.
"I was lucky enough to play alongside some of my heroes so I think i know what is required about a season you get quadruple treble, invincibles. But we're in the here and now, and Celtic have a forlorn title hope and a tough game against Livingston."
