Chris Sutton reckons Jeremie Frimpong's form this season has not merited such a large transfer fee, with Bayer Leverkusen set to sign the defender.
The Dutch defender has been average this season, along with a number of his teammates, with his final ball in particular being heavily criticised.
The player has been able to get himself into good positions going forward on a number of occasions but his decision-making or crossing ability have left a lot to be desired, with just two assists between himself and fellow full-back Diego Laxalt this season.
£11.5 Frimpong to Leverkusen... that’s a lot based on this season’s performances...

Sutton certainly has not been impressed and, after Neil Lennon confirmed Frimpong was abroad talking to another club - Germany with Leverkusen - the former striker was shocked to hear the touted figure for the sale. Taking to social media, Sutton said: "£11.5(m) Frimpong to Leverkusen... that’s a lot based on this season’s performances..."
Frimpong, 20, has wanted out of Celtic for the past 'six or seven weeks' according to his manager who claims he and the club did all they could to renegotiate his contract and keep him at Parkhead.
Lennon said: "That deal looks like it might go through. This has been in the background for the last six or seven weeks, the club have made strides to renegotiate with Jeremie and his representatives and that wasn't the case.
"The player made it clear to me, to Nick [Hammond] to the board that he wanted to leave. I wouldn't say he was unhappy, just ambitious maybe or he wanted to try something else and progress his career at another club. We're obviously very disappointed because we did everything we could to try and entice the player to stay but he made it clear quite a while ago that his ambition was to leave."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
