A GAELIC football club near Glasgow are on the lookout for players to join a new women’s team.

Tir Conaill Harps plan to introduce a ladies side to their set-up and members say they have had a “great response so far”.

It comes amid the team’s growing ambitions and hopes to have a “successful 2021”, despite the pandemic.

Chairman Anton Gallagher said: “Tir Conaill are still looking for new players of all skill levels.

HeraldScotland:

“So, no matter if you have played before or never kicked a ball on a Gaelic pitch, if you are interested in joining the Tir Conaill Harps Ladies team, please contact the club.”

The ladies team – initially planned for last year but put on hold by the pandemic – represents another step forward for the club, adding to its existing men’s and youth sides.

Shortly after installing a new board in 2018, the Harps found their permanent home in South Lanarkshire at Cambuslang Rugby Club and went on to secure multiple honours that same year.

HeraldScotland:

Despite the uncertainty of the months ahead, Tir Conaill members have set their sights on a successful 2021.

“While abiding by the strict lockdown rules, Tir Conaill Harps are looking to do what they can with the hope of being able to play Gaelic football once again at the start of the new season,” Anton added.
