RANGERS have announced their frustration after the club's appeal to lessen the bans imposed on the five players who were found guilty of breaching Covid guidelines was upheld.
Nathan Patterson, Bongani Zungu, Calvin Bassey, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear were in attendance at a house party in Glasgow's west end that was broken up by police back in February.
The Scottish FA charged the quintet and they were found guilty at a hearing, with all five players being handed six-match bans, with two games suspended.
However, Rangers then appealed that decision - which allowed the five players to keep playing competitive games before a final judgement was made.
The SFA announced on Thursday afternoon that the Ibrox club's appeal was unsuccessful and that the original suspensions imposed would be upheld.
That led to Rangers releasing a statement later that day where the club questioned the "inconsistency" of decision-making from Scottish football's governing body, urging the SFA to be "open minded" and to learn from other football associations.
The statement read: "We remain disappointed in the result. Furthermore, we believe this outcome highlights the inconsistency of decision making in the Scottish FA’s disciplinary process.
"We are cognisant that the approach taken by other football associations across Europe has no resemblance to that of the Scottish FA. We urge the Scottish FA to be open minded to learn from other football authorities.
"We now focus on Sunday’s quarter-final at Ibrox."
