STEVEN GERRARD has revealed Rangers will only be able to name five substitutes for their Premiership clash with Livingston as injury issues leave him short of numbers for the penultimate league fixture.

The champions make the trip to face David Martindale's side aiming to move within 90 minutes of completing an unbeaten Premiership campaign but Gerrard doesn't have his selection problems to seek.

Long-term absentee Niko Katic is continuing his recovery from a knee injury, while Ryan Jack has undergone surgery in recent days to cure an issue that has ruled him out of the European Championships this summer.

Borna Barisic and Scott Arfield won't be fit to take on Livingston, while Leon Balogun and Filip Helander have already been ruled out of the visit of Aberdeen as Gerrard also deals with the suspensions of Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey and Bongani Zungu.

Gerrard said: "Katic is back from Croatia and is progressing well.

"He was out on the pitch on Monday doing some rehabilitation work.

"Scott Arfield was out on the pitch doing light rehab work.

"The aim for Scott is to try and get him involved in the last game of the season but he won’t make Livingston.

"Ryan Jack has had successful surgery. We’ve spoken to the surgeon who did the procedure and he’s really happy about how that went.

"He came back from London on Monday and he should be around the Aberdeen game but obviously he won’t be involved in that.

"He’s obviously going to be out for some time and hopefully will come back and join us in pre-season.

"Leon Balogun won’t play again this season. Borna Barisic won’t make Wednesday either but might have an outside chance of making Aberdeen assuming the next few days go well.

"Everyone else is available. We will be a little bit shy on the bench. We should have maybe five players named on the bench but we are fine and good to go."
