Stephen Robinson has been appointed new Morecambe manager.

The former Motherwell boss, 46, takes over the Shrimps in League One after Derek Adams led them to promotion glory.

The latter then moved on to become Bradford City manager, leaving a vacancy which Robinson filled.

He joins on a three-year deal after spending three-and-a-half years at Fir Park.

Robinson told the Morecambe website: "I am delighted to have agreed to become the manager of Morecambe FC and I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"I have been very impressed with the club and everyone involved in the process. We are looking to build on last season's successful promotion campaign and look to firmly establish the club in league One. There is a lot of work in terms of recruitment in the coming weeks and getting us prepared for the club's first season in League One."

The Northern Irishman helped the Steel Men to two cup finals and a top-three finish. He also helped bring European football back to Motherwell.
