Dundee Utd have confirmed Thomas Courts as their new head coach.

The 39-year-old takes over from Micky Mellon who recently left the club for Tranmere Rovers.

He had been the head of tactical performance before being promoted to the top job and he has previously held the post as manager at Kelty Hearts.

"I feel privileged to be taking charge at Dundee United. It's a really exciting time to be connected with this Club," he told United's website.

It comes as former assistant Stevie Frail's departure was confirmed a short time before the announcement. Liam Fox will become Courts' new right-hand man.
