ALLAN MCGREGOR is confident Rangers can overcome Malmo and savour more 'special' occasions in the Champions League this season.
The Light Blues got their Premiership defence off to a winning start on Saturday as McGregor sat out the 3-0 victory over Livingston at Ibrox.
He will return between the sticks for the trip to Sweden as Steven Gerrard's side face the Allsvenskan title holders and look to move to the brink of a place in the group stages.
McGregor is no stranger to such nights under the floodlights and Rangers' record European appearance holder is eager to see off Malmo and create more memories at this level.
McGregor said: "It’s on the back of what we did last year. It will be great. It will be difficult right enough.
"Malmo won their league and are top of the league just now. Plus they are a few games into their season so it will be difficult.
"But the boys are confident, especially after the last three years in Europe. They have done well so hopefully we can keep that going.
"Nowadays it’s easy to find out and watch games so we just do due diligence on every game like we always do. Nothing much changes.
"The internet is mental these days. You can see all their games and what they do. There are different websites to do that.
"They are special nights. I think we can all agree there is a different atmosphere on European nights.
"Probably them and Old Firm games are a wee bit special. It would be amazing for the fans and amazing for the players to experience that.
"It will be difficult. All the games in European football are difficult but you have to have belief and confidence.
"The boys have been doing well the last three games. We have looked more like ourselves so hopefully we can take that into [the game]."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
