JOE HART 6: Got a hand to Helander’s header that brought Rangers their goal, but couldn’t be blamed for failing to keep it out. Little to do otherwise.
ANTHONY RALSTON 7: Defended well on the whole against Kent and always willing to bomb forward too.
STEPHEN WELSH 6: Aggressive in his defending and used the ball well too. Stood up to physical battle.
CARL STARFELT 5: Unconvincing start to defender’s Celtic career continues. Defended well at times in the air, but was caught under the ball as Helander got the leap on him to score.
JOSIP JURANOVIC 7: New signing was given his debut at left-back and acquitted himself well despite being out of position.
CALLUM MCGREGOR 7: Celtic captain produced another good performance in the midfield, but ultimately couldn't drag his team to victory,
LIEL ABADA 6: Had a lively opening to the game, but faded thereafter and struggled to make an impact in attacking areas.
DAVID TURNBULL 5: Had some decent moments when he got on the ball, but all in all the game rather passed him by.
RYAN CHRISTIE 6: A real mixed bag, with some dangerous crosses and lovely passes interspersed with some real moments of slackness on the ball.
KYOGO FURUHASHI 7: A lively presence on the left early on, and set up glorious opportunity for Edouard. Looked dangerous when pushed up top, but spurned a couple of opportunities.
ODSONNE EDOUARD 4: Missed unbelievable chance as ball came off his heel and skewed wide. Was peripheral after that and no surprise to see him taken off with 20 minutes left.
SUBSTITUTES
TOM ROGIC 3: Couldn’t turn the game Celtic’s way despite some nice touches.
ISMAILA SORO 3: No real impact.
ADAM MONTGOMERY 3: Got late run out.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
