IT was a good afternoon for Celtic.

Three points, a clean sheet and another two goals.

Even better still, both Rangers and Hearts dropped points at the top of the table.

Here are three burning issues we found from Celtic's 2-0 win at Fir Park.

Middle to front

Celtic from middle to front have the capability to hurt teams. Jota has given Celtic a decent attacking threat on the flank. The winger scored his second successive league goal with a moment that showcased his technique as he controlled the ball with his right foot before shifting onto his left in one fluid movement. His finished with considerable aplomb although credit goes too to Tom Rogic for the intelligence of the ball into the feet of the teenager.

Turning a corner

David Turnbull had earned a shake of the head and a look to the ground in the opening half when he opted to go for goal in the opening half with both Liel Abada and Jota on either side of him. There was only applause and acclaim at the start of the second period as the midfielder netted his seventh goal if the season. He didn’t celebrate the goal against his former side but the rush of his team-mates to surround him would have illustrated the importance of the strike.  More consistency with those kind of goals would be welcome.

Quiet afternoon

Joe Hart had very little of note to do in the game. There was one anxious moment in the early stages when he was forced into a little sidestep as Motherwell pressurised him but he barely had a save to make in the game. Still, the Celtic defence continues to leave too many gaps for a game to be comfortable. The space between Carl Starfelt and Boli Boligoli encouraged Tony Watt in the opening period with Anthony Ralston forced to scoop the ball out for a corner. Motherwell were incapable of putting Celtic under any real pressure but it may be a different story against Ferencvaros this week as the Europa League returns.  Still, a first league clean sheet since a 3-0 win over Ross County in September would have been as welcome as a second successive win on the road.
