Forward formula

On the evidence of the weekend Steven Gerrard might have thought he'd found his frontline. The Ibrox side were in fine form in the 6-1 away rout of Motherwell but were a far cry from that tonight.

Fashion Sakala, Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo kept their spots in the team but were unable to find a real attacking rhythm in Denmark.

Morelos was unlucky not to score in the opening stage as the flag ruled out what he thought was a lead for his side and Sakala sent a drive just wide.

But it wasn't the free-flowing attack Gerrard would've been looking for in the Europa League showdown.

Sub stars

While it wasn't a vintage attacking showing from Rangers in the first-half, subs Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent made a huge difference in the second.

With Aribo dropped back into midfield Kent and Hagi provided the much needed spark to jolt Rangers into action in the final third. Kemar Roofe also added some directness to Gerrard's side as they searched for a leveller.

Kent's introduction in particular will be a major boost for Rangers fans as he returned with a bang and it could show how key his return to the first-team fold may be.

Late starters

It was a fourth consecutive match where Rangers fell behind. Gerrard's side have struggled to take the lead in matches instead ending up battling to find a result.

Of course, there was some misfortune in Brondby's opening goal when Leon Balogun headed into his own net - but Gerrard will be hoping to buck the unwanted trend of falling behind in the future.
