MALKY MACKAY was frustrated at the manner of Ross County's defending as his side shipped four goals at Ibrox.

But the Staggies boss could take optimism from the two that the visitors scored as Joseph Hungbo and Jordan White netted against the champions.

An Alex Iacovitti own goal added to County's problems after Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent had put Rangers ahead and Juninho Bacuna hit his first for Rangers.

Mackay said: "We started well and what we tried to with that opening goal is what we did. We don't keep it at 1-0 long enough, which is what I said to them, to allow there to be a wee bit more tenseness.

"Ryan Kent, it is a fantastic strike from a fantastic player, it happens, and then at 2-1 at half time I said to them let's stay in this game and keep it at 2-1 because anything can and will happen and we will have another chance.

"So I am disappointed with the third one because one of Rangers' great strengths is give and go, it is what they do time after time.

"It is not hidden, it is what they do and it just takes somebody at some point to switch off and not go to with the runner, for the third one.

"For the fourth one, I accept there is nothing you can do, that is someone trying to stop a goal.

"Proud of them that we kept going and kept trying to play because that was the way to go and play against them and try to fill holes and get it switched and there would be gaps and we got a good second goal.

"So I suppose in summation that we are one of the few clubs who have scored two against them twice this season, frustrated at a couple of goals we lost."
