GIOVANNI van Bronckhorst has lifted the lid on Dave Vos' appointment at Rangers.

The youth coach guru has joined the Ibrox backroom staff from Ajax, with the announcement confirmed this afternoon.

He is the latest member to join van Bronckhorst's new-look coaching team, with the likes of Roy Maakay joining last week

On the appointment, Gio said: "I spoke with Dave a couple of times this year in looking for potential new assistants of mine. I heard really good things about him in the youth set-up of Ajax, also with the Royal association (Dutch FA).

“I wanted to talk to him and see how he thinks about football and how he develops his players. He is a very young coach, very talented.

“I saw in him a good assistant for me because I think he will help me with developing the squad, helping the players also individually. I am really happy with him joining me with this club."

The Dutchman and his new coaching staff only had two days to work with their new group players before the Sparta Prague victory.

van Bronckhorst is now only interested in keeping the momentum going as the club reverts back to domestic matters against Livingston on Sunday.

He added: "We only had two days with the players, they have been really good. They were focused on the sessions and in our meetings.

"It was great to see our game plan, dominate the match & get the two-goal victory we required to get into the next round. A good night for all of us.

"It is important to keep the momentum, with two days it is important to focus on recovery and then tomorrow we fully prepare for Sunday.

"The Prague game is gone and everything is focused on Livingston.

"It is important for me to play with width, it makes it hard to defend especially with the quality and pace we have in a one vs one situation.

"It also allows the full-backs to join in the attack. I think we can create a lot of danger in those areas."
