HIBS

Matt Macey 6

A surprisingly quiet game for the big keeper. He did not have many big saves to make. Did keep Rogic out in the last ten-minutes.

Paul McGinn 6

A decent showing from the Scotland cap. Had more defending to do than he would’ve liked. Booked.

Ryan Porteous 5

Made a grave error for Celtic’s instant leveller in the second-half. He misjudged the flight of the ball, as it sailed over his head for Kyogo to finish.

Paul Hanlon 7

What a moment for the skipper. A special goal, even though the joy was short-lived. He absolutely dominated Starfelt at Hibs’ goal, as the Edinburgh club briefly celebrated at the national stadium.

Lewis Stevenson 6

He was man of the match the last time Hibs won the League Cup way back in 2007 – that’s how long the left-back has been with the club. Like his fellow full-back McGinn, a decent showing, but not able to get forwards nearly enough to provide service for the Hibs attackers.

Jake Doyle-Hayes 6

Winning the midfield battle against Celtic will prove difficult for better players than the Irishman, but he put in a good shift.  Booked.

Joe Newell 5

Had the task of marking Tom Rogic – that’s certainly not something many players will envy.

Martin Boyle 6

Unfortunately for Hibs, the Aussie winger wasn’t involved nearly enough for them to harm Celtic.

Josh Campbell 5

The youngster will always remember his first cup final, but sadly for him it won’t be something he looks back on fondly.

Jamie Murphy 5

Tried his best to run at Celtic’s defenders when on the ball, but was dispossessed easily on more than a few occasions.

Kevin Nisbet 6

Had two huge chances to score and put his name in lights. The first, he did brilliantly well to bully Starfelt off the ball, while skinning him afterwards. His shot was straight at Joe Hart though, when trying to dink him appeared the better option. His second big chance fell in the dying embers, but his header crashed off of the post. Booked.

Subs:

Scott Allan (for Campbell, 74’) 3

Tried to get on the ball.

Josh Doig (for Stevenson, 81’) 2

Tried to make difference.

Christian Dodige (for Murphy) 2

Same as above.

CELTIC

Joe Hart 6

Much like Macey, a quiet afternoon – but he had to be very alert to save his side from Nisbet. Some pathetic defending by Starfelt allowed the Scotland star in, but Hart was out quick to close down the angle.

Josip Juranovic 6

An energetic performance from the right-back. Booked.

Cameron Carter-Vickers 6

Had a quieter but much-better game than his central defensive partner.

Carl Starfelt 4

A solid enough first-half, but was found desperately wanting on more than one occasion for Hanlon’s goal – firstly conceding a needless corner, then for his marking of the Hibs defender. Further poor defending was highlighted in the second period. Lucky John Beaton didn’t penalise him for bringing down Porteous in the box.

Greg Taylor 6

Came back in to the team for Liam Scales, but could not finish the match through injury.

Callum McGregor 8

A delightful assist for Celtic’s first goal of the afternoon. As he usually does, he ran the midfield, and it looked effortless.

David Turnbull 3

The midfielder pulled up with a suspected hamstring injury – to add to an already lengthy treatment room at the club. Could see the devastation on his face.

Liel Abada 6

A quiet afternoon for the youngster.

Tom Rogic 8

Majestic footwork as per usual. He was simply too good for much of the game, as Newell tried to get close to the Aussie. Superb assist for Kyogo’s second.

Mikey Johnston 6

Tried his best like all the players on the field, but couldn’t provide the finishing touch with a few half-chances he created.

Kyogo 9

It’s clear to see why Postecoglou wanted him involved so badly. Finished Celtic’s equaliser off terrifically well, anticipating the mistake from Porteous as Celtic hit back instantly. He played on the shoulder for the winner too, lobbing Macey with a sublime finish.

Subs:

Nir Bitton (for Turnbull, 27’) 5

A decent performance from the midfielder.

Anthony Ralston (for Taylor, 75’) 3

On for injured defender.

Liam Scales (for Johnston, 83’) 2

Final moments.

Owen Moffat (for Kyogo, 83’) 2

Same for the youngster.
