CELTIC have opened talks with Tottenham over a permanent move for Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The American defender has been an important player for Ange Postecoglou since joining on loan in the summer.

Hoops fans have already enjoyed a pleasing start to the January transfer window, with the treble signing of Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate on New Year's Eve.

However, it looks like their business will not halt there this winter.

According to the Daily Record, the Parkhead club have started discussions with Spurs regarding a permanent deal for Carter-Vickers.

Celtic have an option to buy the 24-year-old at the end of his loan agreement next summer.

But the report states that talks are underway over a quick-fire deal for the centre-half.

It is said that a free of around £6million will be required to get Carter-Vickers.
