ALAN HUTTON left Rangers in 2008 after rejecting multiple offers to join Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
The now retired full-back, 37, was determined to remain at Ibrox despite Spurs chiefs determined to lure him down south.
Hutton did eventually move to Spurs, but it took a meeting with David Murray before he travelled to London and accepted terms in the Premier League.
Even then, Hutton had already snubbed a private jet sent for him by the club as he remained focussed on his future at Rangers.
Detailing the transfer chase leading to his £9million record transfer from Rangers, since broken by Nathan Patterson's move to Everton, he told the Scottish Sun: “That’s the truth, I didn’t want to go.
"I don’t think people know the story, but I actually knocked it back three or four times.
“I even remember them sending up a plane and me not turning up for it.
“Eventually I had a meeting with David Murray through in Edinburgh and he basically said, ‘Look, you need to go’.
“I thought about it again and decided that, over the long-term, it was probably best for everyone — but it was tough.
“I had been a Rangers fan all my life. I’d been a youth player and the only thing I wanted was to play for Rangers.
"I’d only just got there and then suddenly someone was saying to me, ‘Right, it’s time to leave’."
