GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST is confident there is plenty more to come from James Sands after clinching a deal for the highly-rated American star.

Sands has put pen-to-paper on an 18-month loan switch with Rangers and becomes Van Bronckhorst's first signing since replacing Steven Gerrard as manager.

The capture of Sands is a sign of intent from Rangers after they fended off interest from clubs on the continent to land the American internationalist.

The champions have an exclusive option to buy clause as part of the loan deal and Van Bronckhorst is delighted to have Sands on board at Ibrox.

Van Bronckhorst said: “James is a player who I have been aware of for some time.

"His versatility was a big attraction and I’ve been impressed with his attitude and mentality in the games that I have watched recently.

"He is a talented young player with areas of his game which we will endeavour to develop through our coaching.

“I am looking forward to getting him onto the pitch and starting to work with him.”
