ASTON VILLA appear to have turned their attentions away from Rangers star Glen Kamara, according to a report.

Steven Gerrard is of course manager at Villa Park, having made the switch to the Premier League in early November.

The Liverpool legend was the man to bring Kamara to Rangers for just £50,000 from Dundee.

The Finnish international flourished under Gerrard's stewardship, and is very much a vital cog of the Ibrox side's midfield.

Reports this week surfaced to say that Rangers are readying themselves for a bid from their old boss for the midfielder this January.

However, according to the Scotsman, Aston Villa may have changed their transfer target.

They say that Villa are setting their sights on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

The report states that this could signal the end to their interest in Kamara.

Bissouma is into the final 18-months of his contract on the south coast.

Villa have been linked with a £15million move for the Mali international.

Philippe Coutinho became Gerrard's first signing as Villa manager earlier this week, as Barcelona agreed a loan move.

And while Villa are still interested in Kamara, a move for Bissouma looks likely to kill any potential move for the Finn to hook-up with Gerrard once again.

The 26-year-old is said to also be attracting interest from Watford and Burnley.

Rangers have already sold Nathan Patterson to Everton this transfer window for a fee that could rise to £16m.
