EX-HIBS and Rangers ace Kevin Thomson has revealed the two managers hated during his playing career.

The former tough-tackling midfielder, now Kelty Hearts boss, named Terry Butcher and John Collins as the two negative experiences he's had with managers.

Thomson, now 37, played under the coaches with Hibs. He also experienced management under Walter Smith and Gordon Strachan but admits his time with managers he didn't gel with helped shape his own coaching style.

Revealing his worst experiences with managers, Thomson told Open Goal: "I never enjoyed Terry Butcher. I hated him really, to be honest.

"Treated me not really well.

"I never liked John. It was the same again, I didn't feel like he treated me really well.

"But I've still got respect for him.

"I would never treat anyone the way they treated me. That's what I believe in."

While Thomson admitted Collins and Butcher were not his favoured managers as he spoke of his treatment under the pair, he insisted he's grateful for the experience.

He added: "I'm really glad now as a manager that I had that.

"So even though I wouldn't do a thing that Terry did, or John did, or treat people the way they treated people, I'm happy I went through it the way I did as an individual.

"And by the way, John Collins was one of my idols growing up. Left peg, left-sided midfielder, massive respect for him.

"Terry had a brilliant career but when it came to togetherness and the way they wanted to play football the way they coached and managed players, it was wasn't for me."
