GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST is confident there is plenty more to come from Rangers after landing the first gong of his Ibrox managerial reign.
The Dutchman completed an awards double for the champions on Wednesday as he was named as Manager of the Month for December following six successive Premiership wins.
Striker Alfredo Morelos collected the prize for Player of the Month after Rangers extended their lead over Old Firm rivals Celtic to six points at the top of the table.
Van Bronckhorst's side return to action when they face Aberdeen next week and the second derby showdown of the campaign is now looming large as the top flight gets back down to business after the winter break.
And the Ibrox boss has backed his players to pick up where they left off as Rangers aim to lay down a marker of their title intentions in the coming weeks.
Van Bronckhorst said: “It’s always nice to win awards. It means that things have gone really well.
“The start of my career at Rangers has been very positive.
“I’m very proud to have won this award. But I think what’s behind the award is much more important.
“It means that we have done a great job. I think my staff who came with me and the staff already here are helping me a lot and are working hard to achieve the wins we have.
“Also the players, I thank them as well for all the work they’ve done these last few weeks and months. That’s why I’ve been given this award.
“But still, it means you’re doing a good job and it gives me motivation to keep going.
“Yes, we have confidence, we had a good run before the break.
“Now we are working hard to keep the momentum going and to make sure we are there every game and to make sure we’re getting the wins we need."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
