RANGERS hero Kris Boyd has admitted that the title race is over - with Celtic certain to go on to lift the crown in May.

Today's Old Firm derby result means that the Hoops are now six-points in front of the Ibrox club at the summit of the Premiership.

Aaron Ramsey got Rangers off to a flying start in the lunchtime kick-off.

However, Tom Rogic hit back within a matter of minutes, before Cameron Carter-Vickers bagged the winner right before half-time with a thunderous finish past Allan McGregor.

Rangers really had to get something out of the derby game to push the title race to the wire, with only six games remaining in the league season.

And former player Boyd admits it's curtains as far as retaining the title is concerned for the Light Blues.

He told Sky Sports: "It's over now. For me it was going to be difficult for Rangers to get back into the title race anyway (before this game).

"And now it's done for me today."

The sides have two more meetings to go this season.

The first will be in the Scottish Cup semi-final, before the fifth and final encounter at Parkhead post-split.
