TRIBUTES have been pouring in following the announcement that former Rangers player Graham Fyfe died yesterday aged 70.

The winger spent seven years at Ibrox between the end of the ‘60s and the first half of the ‘70s, making 89 first-team appearances and providing 31 goals after making his debut against Hearts in March 1969.

Fyfe was part of the Rangers team that won the Cup Winners’ Cup in Barcelona in 1972 but was an unused substitute in the famous 3-2 victory over Dynamo Moscow.

He went on to play for Hibernian and Dumbarton before a stint in the United States signalled the end of his playing career.

Fyfe turned out for Major Indoor Soccer League sides Pittsburgh Spirit, Cleveland Force and St Louis Steamers before deciding to hang up his boots.

Rangers released a statement on Twitter where the club offered its sincere condolences to Fyfe’s loved ones.

“Everyone at Rangers is today deeply saddened to hear of the death of former player Graham Fyfe,” the post read.

“Graham made 89 appearances, scored 31 goals and was part of the 1972 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup winning squad.

“The thoughts of everyone at the football club are with Graham's family.”

Supporters also paid tribute to Fyfe in the comments below the social media post, recalling his importance to the Glasgow club.
