KYOGO BACK WITH A BANG

They missed him when he was out injured, but now Kyogo Furuhashi is back for the business end of the Scottish Premiership campaign. The Japanese international started his first game since Boxing Day in Dingwall and he was quick to get on the scoresheet within 12 minutes. The strikers’ movement and headed finish were impressive and the cross from Jota was also top drawer. Ange Postecoglou now has the option to utilise Kyogo or Giorgos Giakoumakis as his leading striker, or he could unleash the two as a pair. It will be interesting to see who he opts for against Rangers at Parkhead next week.

SQUAD DEPTH IMPRESSIVE

Ange Postecoglou utilised his bench in the Highlands and made the decision to introduce a triple substitution on the 65th minute. The changes were needed with County slowly dragging themselves back into the game. Malky Mackay’s team had a couple of half chances and they were keeping possession well, and despite Celtic not being under the cosh, it was clear Postecoglou did not want to take any chances. The trio of Giorgious Giakoumakis, Tom Rogic and Liel Abada certainly made a positive impact on the front foot and they injected some much needed energy into the attack.

WHAT PRESSURE?

Celtic restored their six-point gap at the top of the Premiership with their victory over County. It was not a vintage display by Postecoglou’s team, but the three points were the most important thing after Rangers had defeated Motherwell on Saturday. The league can now be effectively won next week when Celtic welcome their rivals to Parkhead. There will still be nine points to play for in the campaign after next week’s round of fixtures, but with an impressive goal difference, a win against Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team will all but secure the Premiership crown. An impressive league campaign all round from Postecoglou’s men.
