A TOTAL of around 18,000 Rangers fans are expected to be inside the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium for the Europa League final against Frankfurt on Wednesday evening.
Tens of thousands of Ibrox supporters have travelled to Seville for the blockbuster final of the tournament, despite the club only receiving an official allocation of 9,500.
It is understood though that Rangers fans have snapped up a number of sponsorship tickets and Uefa tickets that were issued via a ballot ahead of the semi-finals.
The Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium is the smallest of Seville’s three football grounds and has a capacity of just 43,883.
Ticketless Rangers fans will be able to watch the Europa League final on a big screen in the city but the club have confirmed there will be no mass screening at Ibrox.
There were fears there would be problems finding enough televisions to view the game, due to many of Seville’s restaurants and bars not having TVs.
But a solution was agreed between the club and the city’s mayor Antonio Muñoz, with a fan zone set up inside the Estadio La Cartuja stadium where Celtic lost to Porto in the 2003 UEFA Cup final.
A Rangers statement read: “After dialogue with UEFA, Spanish police and the local authorities, we can confirm the organisation of a fan viewing area in the Estadio La Cartuja, for those supporters without tickets. Further details will be released by the stadium manager in the coming days.
“There will also be a fan meeting point in Alameda de Hercules for those supporters with a ticket for the final. There will be no public viewing of the game in the fan zone area. More information will be provided in the coming days.
“We would like to thank UEFA, Spanish police and the local authorities for their co-operation so far.”
