Jim McIntyre has defended Willie Collum ahead of the whistler taking charge of his Cove Rangers side's match with Queen's Park.

The referee will take charge of the Championship showdown after being in the spotlight last weekend for his officiating of Hibernian vs Rangers.

Collum sent off both John Lundstram and Alfredo Morelos in the clash and also awarded a penalty to Rangers.

Lundstram's red has since been rescinded and Collum has received criticism from certain quarters.

McIntyre though has defended the whistler and looks forward to seeing him at Ochilview Park on Saturday.

He said: "I think Willie is long in the tooth and knows it comes with the territory of being a referee.

"They guys have such a hard job, a split second to make a decision and sometimes they get them wrong.

"Then they have a million pundits who are going to discuss that because that is their job.

"It is a really difficult job. I have always found Willie to be a good referee and I look forward to seeing him on Saturday."
