Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin has claimed he is 'limited in what he can say' over his controversial comments about Hibs defender Ryan Porteous.

The Irishman branded the Scotland international a 'cheat' after his side lost 3-1 to the Edinburgh side before the international break.

The statement left the ex-St Mirren boss in hot water as he ended up being charged by the Scottish Football Association.

He is accused of breaking rules 73 and 77 of the SFA constitution, which covers offensive statements and says all players and staff must act in the best interests of the game. A hearing date has been set for October 6.

He said: "I don't really have a great deal that I'm allowed to say at this moment in time because the hearing hasn't taken place.

"With regards to the game, I was extremely disappointed that we'd lost and thought we were quite comfortable at 11 v 11, one nil up, with a minute to go before half-time.

"I do believe that if we'd kept 11 men on the pitch, then we wouldn't have lost the game, so I'm disappointed to lose the game and drop points, but we'll see what the outcome of the hearing is.

"I don't like swerving questions, I think I always do try and give an honest answer from time to time but on this occasion I'm limited to what I can say."
