Shane Sutherland netted 24 goals for Elgin this season before rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in March.

His goal-scoring exploits, though, were sufficient to see his fellow players give him the Player of the Year award for League Two.

The striker’s intentions now are simply to get back playing, with a view to getting back on the pitch before the turn of the year.

“I set myself targets and I’d like to think I’d have got to 30 had I not got injured,” said Sutherland who combines playing with work in an Inverness warehouse. “The surgeon said I’d be out for six to nine months but in my head I’m not putting a deadline on it.

“I’ll play when I’m ready to play. Hopefully that will be in 2017. If not, I’ve just got to work hard and to my rehab as well as I can. I’ve signed a new two-year contract at the club.”
