WES FODERINGHAM Saved by his post as Dembele hit the woodwork early on and was left badly exposed by his defence for Rogic and McGregor’s goals. Sent the wrong way by Dembele and couldn’t reach Ntcham’s penalty. 5
JAMES TAVERNIER Partnership with Candeias was almost non-existent in the first half as he was penned in by the Celtic attack. Right-back improved after the break but it was another Old Firm defeat for the Ibrox captain. 5
ROSS MCCRORIE The return of the youngster should have been a bonus for Rangers but he endured a torrid time. Struggled against Dembele and was beaten too easily by Rogic as he opened the scoring. Sent off for bringing down Dembele after 50 minutes to cap a miserable afternoon. 3
RUSSELL MARTIN Didn’t cover himself in glory in the build-up to the first goal and was then wholly culpable for the second as he diverted the ball into the path of McGregor. Won’t get the deal he wants with performances like this. 4
DECLAN JOHN Kept honest by Forrest down the flank and stuck to his task. Had little attacking threat throughout a low-key outing. Steady but unspectacular. 5
ANDY HALLIDAY Handed a rare start to add to Rangers’ numbers in midfield but didn’t see half-time. Replaced by Windass after an ineffectual showing and was involved in a spat with a fan. 2
GREG DOCHERTY Was the best of the Gers central three in the first half but that wasn’t saying much. Couldn’t get to grips with Celtic and assert himself as his efforts proved in vain. 5
GRAHAM DORRANS Should have been a major influence for Rangers but he was outpaced and outclassed in a one-sided midfield battle. Gers fans are entitled to expect far better from the 30-year-old. 3
DANIEL CANDEIAS Couldn’t get the better of Tierney often enough and rarely posed a threat. Replaced by Alves after McCrorie was sent off. 3
JAMIE MURPHY Has the ability to cause any side problems but didn’t get on the ball often enough and was dealt with comfortably down the left. Another who was far from his best. 4
ALFREDO MORELOS Striker had a point to prove on derby day but was starved of service and cut a frustrated figure in the final third. Header at 3-0 was well saved by Gordon but he had to score just before the hour mark with the keeper on the deck. 4
Substitutes:
JOSH WINDASS Missed out on a starting spot but was called upon after 40 minutes as Rangers chased the game. Had few chances to influence proceedings, though. 4
BRUNO ALVES Introduced after McCrorie saw red and saw a header saved by Gordon within minutes. Another derby to forget for the Portuguese. 3
JASON HOLT Given the last 19 minutes but the game was long gone by that stage. Foul on Roberts allowed Ntcham to make it 4-0 from the spot. 2
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
